Vars Disc is a performance road bike unconstrained by mass-production methods with no limits on fit, fabrication or performance

Our new Vars Disc bike is fully customisable and made with craftsmanship and attention to detail not available from the big brands. Every bike is made one at a time to your exacting specification. Unconstrained by mass-production methods, this bike gives you the aesthetic and responsive ride characteristics you’d expect from a high-performance carbon road frame.

The bike features an optional fully integrated front end, with drop stays and scale tunnel-tested tube profiles on the downtube and top tube, to make sure you’re not giving anything away to your mates on their mass-market road machines. Our progressive approach to fitting and geometry puts you and your needs at the heart of the design process; the result is a bike that feels better for you, for longer.

Our Vars Disc uses a mix of monocoque and tube-to-tube fabrication techniques to deliver a responsive road race platform unrestricted by the limits of purely monocoque manufacturing. Its tubes are made in our own moulds, using the highest quality Japanese TorayCA Fibre blends, and every tube is made to order for your bike; for your weight, inputs, and the kind of riding you do.

Some custom carbon bikes give riders a choice of frame size or stem length, but we mix the benefits of monocoque moulding in the critical head tube and down tube components, with the freedom of tube-to-tube frame fabrication.

This allows us to control every dimension of the frame so we can, in turn, control every aspect of your experience on the bike - from a good fit that feels great for your whole ride, to balanced weight distribution that puts your centre of mass in the middle of the bike, and our dialled-in handling geometry that gives you the confidence to go further and faster than you’ve ever been before.

Our handling geometry gives you the ride characteristics you need for the power to climb effortlessly, and for the control to take corners with confidence and descend faster than you thought capable.

“Fall in love with riding all over again” “It’s almost impossible to put into words what this bike is like to ride; it’s beyond empowering” Myles Warwood Cycling Weekly

Col De Vars, 2180m, Haute Alpes, France

Our Vars Disc bike borrows its name from The Col De Vars high in the French Alps. The climb tops out at 2108m and is one of the best-known climbs in the area.

Approached via Les Gleizolles after a day riding from the direction of Embrum and Lac Poncon, the main part of the climb winds its way up grassy banks, ascending quiet switchbacks, and alternating alpine views along to each end of the valley. Each switchback needs a little extra effort as the pitch kicks up, but the lightweight responsive chassis makes that interruption to your rhythm feel easier. When you’re standing up on the pedals your bike won’t give anything away, and combined with our rear end geo, will help you press on. No wheelies (if you don’t want them), just forward drive. And out of the saddle, you and your new bike can only go up.

It’s when you hit the top of this climb that you’ll see why we view comfort as a performance parameter. It’s a great view at the top and, because your bike fits you perfectly and did its job flawlessly on the tough parts, you should feel like a rockstar with plenty of energy left to enjoy the descent.

On the way down, this bike has even more impact. We built the Vars Disc around a little extra clearance and the 30-32mm tyres will feel grippy so you can carry speed, trust the handling and enjoy the extra confidence to go easy on the brakes (because the steeper flowing hairpins, where you’ll really need them, are much lower down). Look out in the villages - they’re quiet but you’ll be shifting, so you’ll need to keep sharp.

At the bottom of this descent, it’s all going to make sense; the three-hour fit, the decisions, getting your head around the level of attention to detail in the design process, even waking up in the night worried about your colour choices. All that time waiting for your bike to be made just the way you wanted it, for the riding you do.
