Vars Disc AR or all-road is our new gravel and adventure bike. With tube shapes aero optimised for our fast-road bikes, this new bike is made using a completely gravel focused lay-up, designed for going fast wherever you want to take it.

The coverage of the recent climate change protests in Stage 10 of the TDF have highlighted how far we have to go in shifting public opinion on climate change. It seems some people still don’t think it’s important enough.

There’s so much good riding in this region it is almost impossible to pick favourite climbs but Vars stands out for it’s sheer familiarity these days. I’ve collected a lot of memories on that hill over the years; one of the main reasons it lends its name to our new carbon bike. Today’s Vars ride was a little unusual in that I wasn’t riding.

Flat bars and knobbly tyres? It must be our first mountain bike. But we haven’t lost all of our principles, it’s made of the most expensive mountain bike tubes we could find, 953 from Reynolds no less and sprinkled with some beautiful titanium bits from Thomson.

I have just unloaded the van following this weekend's wonderfully sunny (mostly) North London Dirt event, held in the lovely Grounds of St Mary’s Church in Stoke Newington, London. The event is as the name suggests a London based gravel event. Yes, an off road event in central London. And it’s ace.

When Luke came to us for a bike I felt like he’d been kind of strong-armed by an old buddy of mine called, Will. But that didn’t mean he didn’t know exactly what he wanted. This marble green and gold Izoard RR with Force AXS is the stunning result.

When I first started making bikes I wasn’t trying to become a frame builder. I was just convinced there must be a better way to design and build a bike around my needs for the riding I wanted to do though. When I finished my first frame I obviously hadn’t cracked the code entirely but I discovered something really magical that I just had to explore. I moved my life to the Alps. From there I found the team, friends and families we work with today, here in the UK and Italy.

Feeling grateful for a pretty unusual year where demand has never been greater, but the challenges have never been weirder. But we got through it, overcame the toughest bits, and we’re in good shape for an exciting year ahead. Thanks to all our customers, for all their support in 2021.

The Spoon Customs Izoard XCR disc has been approved for competitive use by cycling’s governing body, the UCI (Union Cylist Internationale). The approval means that for the first time, our steel bikes can be used in racing events overseen by the UCI.

The Col De Vars lends its name to our newest custom carbon road bike, Vars Disc. Our new bike is built around a lightweight, custom-made carbon race frame designed around you and the riding you do.
